Advent secured the best Olympic handover celebrations coverage outside of London, according to organisation behind London 2012.
The London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games (LOCOG) was delighted with the coverage of Coventry and Warwickshire’s Beijing to London 2012 handover, which generated more than £100,000 worth of publicity.
Camera crews both from BBC Midlands Today and Central News reported on, highlighting the great turnout of support in University Square, in Coventry city centre.
BBC Coventry & Warwickshire covered the celebrations for its radio listeners, while full page coverage was achieved in regional press including the Coventry Telegraph and the Observer Standard Series.
The handover event was organised by Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership for the 2012 Games and included a parade by past Olympians and future hopefuls.

Tom Clift, opportunities co-ordinator, said: “We believe that the positive reaction to the event is a glowing endorsement of what Coventry and Warwickshire can offer the 2012 Games.
