Advent PR hits £1m mark for Olympic coverage

A leading Midlands public relations company has succeeded in obtaining media coverage of Olympic proportions for one of its clients.

Advent Communications, based in Electric Wharf, Coventry, has been working closely with the Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership for the 2012 Games for the past two years.

The value of column inches dedicated to the organisation, which is responsible for maximising opportunities arising from the 2012 Games for Coventry and Warwickshire, since linking up with Advent has now surpassed the £1 million mark.

Over the past two years, the C&W 2012 Partnership has received national and regional coverage through written and broadcast media.

Advent have also secured significant television news slots for the organisation – including a live broadcast by the BBC during the launch of a major project that will see two men promote the 2012 Games and raise money for charity by riding a pedalo from Stratford-upon-Avon, in Warwickshire, to the site of the 2012 Games in Stratford, London.

Tom Clift, manager of the Coventry and Warwickshire 2012 Partnership, said: “Working with Advent has enabled the 2012 Partnership to communicate our involvement surrounding the London Olympics on a local, regional and national stage.

“Having such a large presence is beneficial not only to the 2012 Partnership, but also to the people of Coventry and Warwickshire as it allows them to engage in the London 2012 opportunities, events and achievements that are taking place in our sub-region.”

Adam Dent, managing director of Advent Communications, said: “The C&W 2012 Partnership has been ground-breaking in some of the work it has done around the games and that has been recognised by the media.

“Interest will ramp up as 2012 gets ever closure and I know that the region will play a considerable part in making the games highly memorable.”
